A Songahm Taekwondo practicioner must govern its conduct, inside and out of the Dojang, based on five basic principles. These principles are visible on the oaths taken at the begining and ending of each class, in a straight line formation facing the flags (of Portugal, the WTTU and Korea): Cortesy, Integrety, Perseverance, Self Control and Spirit.

Formation at the end of a class, facing the flags.
At the begining of class
Sir/Ma'am,
I shall practice in the SPIRIT of Taekwondo,
with COURTESY for fellow students,
LOYALTY for my instructor
and RESPECT for my juniors and seniors, sir/ma'am,
Sir/Ma'am!
At the end of class
Sir/Ma'am,
I shall live with PERSEVERANCE in the spirit of Taekwondo,
having HONOUR for others,
INTEGRITY for myself
and SELF CONTROL in my actions,
Sir/Ma'am!
